Information systems
A system which acquire records of data ,software and hardware networks that organization collect ,process and distribute. Information system emphasize functionality over management and decision making has 5 constitutes
1. Data
2. Software
3. Hardware
4. Procedures
5. People
System
- It is a collection of interrelated components that interact to complete a task.
- System originates from a Latin word systēma relates to an entire structure made of several parts.
- System means ''something to look at'' .
- System can be classified as open and close system.
- System can also be classified into natural and artificial.
- Open system is a system that interact freely with the environment.
- Eg:-Digestive system,Air conditioning system
- Closed system is a system that do not directly engage with the external environment but exchange energy.
- Natural system can be separated as living and physical system.
- Living systems are open self organizing living things that interact with their environment.
- Physical system is the system which allow physical analysis.
Features of a system
1. Shows interconnectivity with its components.
2. Shows a structure.
3. Shows a proper propriety. Its propriety is relative to the external surrounding.
Information systems can be divided mainly into several forms
1. Executive systems
2. Management information systems
3. Decision support system
4. Knowledge management system
5. Transaction processing system
6. Office automation systems
Executive system
Executive systems are used for the fecund summarization of data.
These fecund summarized data are used to make reports .
These reports are forward to the management level of the company .
These reports are reviewed by the managers and they will provide sufficient updates to the system.
Management information system
It normally deals with the interior source of information in a system.
It sets up simple sets of reports for management purposes these are sometimes called as Management reports.
The management reports are used by senior officers and middle managing level employees.
This play an important role in the entire internal control process .
Example- Managing the limits of production of goods and services.
Finding true information in new test strategies in a company.
Decision support system
Decision support systems are designed to help management level supervisors to make decisions in dynamic situations . Management reports are used in this key process.
Knowledge management system
Its function is to identify the activities on different systems in regards to creation, production, distribution and the applications of their products.
there are other types of systems
Transaction processing system
These systems are composed to be used in making process routines efficiently and accurately
Transaction is a operational unit that is used by this system to in order to process efficiently.
every transaction must succeed or fail as a complete unit . A transaction never stay in a intermediate state .
This system has specific action called ACID which allows its function properly.
ACID - Atomicity ,Consistency ,Isolation, Durability
Atomicity - it is a state where the transaction is checked if it is completed or not
Consistency - in this state it checks if transaction is accurate .
Isolation - this state allows only a single transaction to be processed it never allow simultaneous transactions to take place
Durability - after a transaction is completed in here it do not allow the transaction to be subjected to break down .
there are some key features of a transaction processing system
- Reliability
- Instant response
- Permanent
- Control access
