Apple has pushed out out its first-ever automated security update to Macs. The patch will fix a security flaw that could see hackers gain remote access to computers.
The update first started rolling out on Monday. It fixes a component of the OS which relates to network time protocol (NTP), which is used for synchronizing clocks on computer systems. Usually such updates are packaged up with regular updates, but this one was rolled out immediately to protect customers as soon as possible. Despite the fact that Apple has had that capability for years, this is the first time it's ever used it.
The update doesn't require a restart, so it may be a good idea to agree to this one being installed right away.
